Updating the kernel through up2date and checkup2date

When /scripts/checkup2date is run, it creates the following up2date skip list:

courier*;spamassassin*;httpd*;perl;mysql*;php*;mod_ssl*;kernel*;exim*;

Does "kernel*" have to be included in the skiplist?

Will updating the kernel and various kernel modules break cpanel/whm?

Nope it wont break cpanel the kernel has nothing to do with cpanel it is for the OS
