Updating WHM/cPanel

Is it OK for me to just close the window down or go onto another page when i iniate an upgrade, i don't want it to stop half way through so will it be safe for me to either just close IE or better still continue using WHM whilst it's doing this?

The update happens in the background. There is no need to keep the window open.
