Upgrade, Just curious

Hi people,
Just curious, if I was to change my upgrade preferences from release to stable and I am on the latest relese version of cpanel would it revert back to the old stable version when updated.

Example:
Say I am on
8.7.0-RELEASE_20
(Fri Jan 23 19:48:10 2004)

And I set preferences to Auto stable
would it revert back to
8.5.3-STABLE_3
(Tue Oct 14 09:11:53 2003)
When the auto update was executed?
