Default Urgent help reqd Downgrading from MySQL5 to MySQL4

    Hello,

Had too many issues after upgrading to mySQL5 and now need to revert back to mySQL4.

Please could anyone confirm the best way to do this, any help greatly appreciated. The server contains a lot of sites, it is not a new server.

    TIA

Did you upgrade MySQL manualy, or through the WHM? There is an option in the WHM >> "Tweak Setting" to downgrade to v4.

There isnt an option to downgrade once you go up to version 5 Andy, only if you force cpanel to believe that a lower version is installed by editing /var/cpanel/cpanel.config can you then see the lower version in tweak settings

We edited the file to show 4.1, then ran /scripts/mysqlup again to get 4.1 on there again

After this we ran buildapache, a mysqlcheck and everything is back to 4.1 now

You didn't say what version of the cPanel/WHM you're using. FYI, the option is in WHM 10.8.0 cPanel 10.8.2 E117.

    Default Tweak Settings

If you want to roll back to 4.0, go into /var/cpanel/cpanel.config and put the MYSQL version to 4. This will give you three options through WHM 5.0 4.1 4.0. Then run mysqlup and you should be golden with whatever version you have defined in the /var/cpanel/cpanel.config or you can update via WHM.

    Default Migration

What version of Apache are you running? What version of PHP are you running? What version of MYSQL are you using? What version of *nix are you using. These are all things you want to answer to yourself and research the forums before you do the update. If your unsure of what you are doing but still want to go for it, then make sure that you back up all your DBs. Good luck and post if you have any problems. With all the postings on this forum, it really helped my troubleshooting. Thanks guys and girls.
