Hello friends of the forum.
My host claims that my server has been launching DOS attacks and therefore they unplugged it.
Because I have a few hours only to restore things before the great majority of my customers will resume working I ordered a RHE new cPanel build on the same server, having the old drive with RH 9.0 mounted as a slave.
I am aware that I am going to waste hours restoring everything and I am seriously concerned that I will have issues with Cpanel's and email accounts passwords.
The server is now up and running and configured with resolvers, name servers and basic settings.
Is there a quick way I can make tarballs of some directories from the old drive and extract them to the new one so that I can save hours upon hours of work?
I mean not just the /home but all the configurations needed such as passwords, account quotas, account IDS...
Would a tarball of /etc and /home do?
Are there any other dirs I need to make tarballs of where other important config files are kept?
Are there any special switches to use apart from the usual -xzvf to ensure things will be overwritten for definite?
Would I incur into any conflicts between RH 9.0 and RHE if I do that?
Please if there is a way may I have a checklist from someone.
I offer a 200 Mb hosting account to anyone who will help me.
Many thanks!!
Ganga
