Users Can't Change Password In CPanel

They can login when I change the password for them via ssh. If they try to change the password via CPanel they get the following error:

spawn /usr/bin/passwd
Changing local password for clientname
Old Password:
New Password:

It is exactly how you see it. Blank text after password. Passwords do not update for any account.

I tried to run
/scripts/fixeverything but have a .pl error on line 17 and it stops.
Tried running a few other /scripts comands and they all give me some sort of .pl error on line #.
Can't find distro version at /scripts/fileversion.pl line 17.

If this is a freebsd server, install expect from /usr/ports/lang/expect. This should correct the problem.

Sorry. I had this same problem but installing expect did the trick. Hope you get a resolution soon.

Now the e-mail is down..cpanel is just falling apart on me and nothing was done to it.

Tried restarting my POP3 server and still can't get e-mails..

Is there any way I can downgrade CPanel to version 7 I'm currently running the latest stable version and obviously there are too many bugs in it

If CPanel can't run with FreeBSD 5.1 then this is false advertisement...at least support your product.

They have a partial fix. Still need to update it to work with FTP once password is changed.

Fixes the password changes but does not fix the password changes for the FTP. You can check out the latest on this problem on my forums since I like keeping many things open to our customers and users:

One problem is fixed but there is still the problem with the main ID's FTP. They will be giving out an updated fix of this shortly from what I was told. The main FTP's ID can be fixed with the synchronize feature.

this problem is a pain in the ass, red hat 9. same issue here.
