Default Users unable to change permissions gallery G2 folders.

So far my searches here have not turned up an answer so I'm hoping someone who knows about this sees this post.

When a user installs Gallery (G2) they are unable to change the permissions on a folder (such as /modules/) neither from FTP nor from the cPanel file manager.

Does anyone here know what might cause this and what the solution is?
Thanks very much for any ideas.

I think the only plausible cause for that situation is that the folder is not owned by them. Do a ls -al at the command line in that directory and see who owns it, then chown it. The permanant fix for future installations would be to modify the installation script.
