    Default Using the clamav connector

The edge & current builds have the clamav connector in the cpanel addon modules (in the cpanel section in whm). You must be running the latest exim builds (4.41-100) for this to be enabled. (/scripts/exim4 --latest) will install it. This is not yet supported under freebsd; However support is forthcoming within a week.

Can you confirm that you will leave the MailScanner modifications in place (for exim_outgoing.conf etc) in the future for those of us who prefer (immensely) to exiscan?

Thanks for the explaination.....when using the module installer under WHM it does not update to 4.41 but still uses the 4.34 installer.

Should I change something in the exim.conf?

The modifications will stay, however if mailscanner changes their system I can't say for sure if we will add support for new versions.

I sincerely hope you do continue to support it as the exiscan solution is fine on a small scale for people hosting their own sites. For those offering web hosting (which presumably the majority are) then MailScanner is the only solution that provides the flexibility and configurability you need to offer a scanning service.

A little more time looking at how to configure MailScanner for the cPanel environment can make MailScanner a very effective and better resource user than the version originally offered on layer1.

I'm relatively new to cPanel (only been using it for a little over a year now). I am unfamiliar with what MailScanner is, and what its advantages are.

Can I have it installed with the exiscan patch thats currently in place? I'd like to be able for customers to see if they have a virus (ie if they send an outgoing e-mail with a virus it would send them back a message). I'd also like for it to deliver the empty message from exiscan. Exiscan just rejects the message altogether, but I'd like the text portion or "non virus" portion delivered onto the user's mailbox. Is this possible with mailscanner?

    Thanks,
    Jesse

Yes, it is definitely possible with MailScanner, but you cannot have exiscan/clamavconnector installed as well as MailScanner, it's one or the other.
