Using PEAR (php) installs in Cpanel/WHM setup

Hi,

The usual command to get PEAR to install something, like Cpan in the Perl world, is as follows:

pear -v install tidy

This will install the TIDY module. But when I execute this in my SU shell, I see these errors:

/usr/local/bin/phpize: /tmp/tmp77Pry5/tidy-1.1/build/shtool: /bin/sh: bad interpreter: Permission denied
/usr/local/bin/phpize: line 68: -f: command not found
`phpize' failed

What gives? What am I missing?

pear install is attempting to execute a script from /tmp and you configured your cpanel to not allow execution of scripts from /tmp. I don't know how to fix this yet, though.

mount -o remount,exec /tmp
pear install {whatever}
mount -o remount /tmp
