/var fills up all the time

Im getting a lot of problems on one server wiht the /var partition filling up all the time but im having troubles tracking down the cause of it.

ive cleared out the ususal suspects like /var/tmp and /var log but im not getitng anywhere

im wondering if there is a way to recursively search all the folders of /var to identify large files?

I know ls -ltr will display the details of one folder but how do i search all at once?

can anyone shed some light on this for me

check your mail logs

/var/log/exim

Thanks but as ive said ive already cleared out /var/log

and my mail logs are only a combined 48Mb currently

you can see which directory that are using the most by running

du -h -s /var/*

[Snowman30]

ah yes thats what i was looking for thanks

and culprit found... 5Gb in /var/lib/mysql
