    Default /var/named entries

    Hello

I have set up a new server, and all seemed fine.

When I create a new account, however, the entry in /var/named is listed as:

    domainname.com.work.randomcharacters

    eg:

    aaatest.com.db.work.Vy32n5Cq2UUpiyfH

and the domain name doesnt resolve.

Can anyone suggest how to fix this?

    Many thanks
    Graeme

That means the generated Zone file didn't pass the syntax check. If you are comfortable doing so, you can edit the file directly to fix the problem, then rename the file and restart bind. To know what the error is, use named-checkzone:

    named-checkzone domainname.com.work domainname.com.work.randomcharacters
