Default Very confused by cPanel product support life cycle updates

I just saw this post http://blog.cpanel.net/?p=53 that refrenced the cPenl product support life cycle page (http://www.cpanel.net/products/eol_update.htm) I'm very confused by the life cycle. If I read it correctly, 11.1 (current stable release) will go end of support on July 1st (about 20 days) and then the 11.2 (current release version) will go end of support 15 days later?

This seems really fast (or I'm just missing something). From what I've heard the 11.2 is not totally stable yet (with remote MX's) and yet it's going to go end of support July-15th?

I'm pretty sure that you meant 11.23 (its 11.2 thats being discontinued in July see http://www.cpanel.net/products/eol_update.htm). 11.23 won't be on that list for quite a while.
The mx issues (local/remote domains issue) have been solved Release 25048 on 6/2/08. See: http://changelog.cpanel.net/?revisio...=release;pp=10

I'm looking at http://www.cpanel.net/products/eol_update.htm and that is what is confusing me It goes 11.2 and the 11.3. Unless I simply don't understand the numbering scheme 11.23 is "between 11.2 and 11.3.

There are twenty some minor versions between 11.2 and 11.23

11.1,11.2,11.3,11.4.,11.5 are listed on that page because they have support discontinuation dates.

11.6,11.7,11.8,11.9,11.10,11.12,11.13,11.14,11.15,11.17,11.18,11.19,11.20,11.21,11.22,11.23 are not listed because they have no date set any will be supported for quite some time to come.

We have one client that is running cPanel 10.9.1. Are you saying that this server will stop working on 08/01/08? We also have one client that is running 10.8.2 will it stop working on 07/01/08?

I realize that these are old cPanel versions and they should be upgraded. We have told the clients as such, but I guess they are afraid something will break during the upgrade. At this point it really does not bother me if cPanel does stop working on those designated dates, I agree that they should upgrade and maybe if their cPanel stops working it will push them into an upgrade. I am just wanting to see if I am clear in regards to this.

    Correct.

cPanel 10.9.x STABLE will cease functioning on August 1, 2008. All other cPanel 10 releases will cease functioning on July 1, 2008.

We have sent many previous messages regarding the deprecation of 10.8 and earlier.

Actually their websites and e-mail will still work (Apache and Exim) just their control panels and WHMs and I guess webmail will stop working on these designated dates. I guess cppop will stop working too, since all of these servers are still using cppop instead of Courier.

I'm not complaining about any of this. I think notices were sent out at the beginning of the year saying that support for 10.8 was going to be ending, but that caught a lot of people off guard and it was never done. I agree that these servers need to be upgraded, but the clients for these servers refuse to give us the go ahead to do the upgrade, even though I have told them many, many times that support for that version of cPanel will eventually end. I'm sure it'll be a headache when the time does come and these servers stop functioning. But it won't be because I did not warn them.

    David,

will the product actually cease to function, and if so - what will loose functionality, and what will still be functional.

What if one owns a "One Time License" ?

    thanks,

    marco

All proprietary components of cPanel and WHM will cease functioning.

If you have a One-Time License, you have until July 1 to upgrade to version 11 at no additional cost.

    thanks,
