    Default Virus Scanning

    Hello Everyone,
    I am having strange issue with ClamAv scanner. It is working from console with either users root and normal but it is not scanning from Cpanel. It just stop and display following message.

    Scanning for Virii

    Scanning:
    ... connecting to clamd service ...

    File: / Data: / M

    Any suggestion would be highly appreciated.

    Default remove clamavconnector.

    from WHM > Cpanel > Manage Plugins

    First uninstall clamavconnector and then reinstall clamavconnector..That should fix your issue.

    If you have Mailscanner installed, it uses separate clamd service (not the cPanel one). This will cause issues for VIrus scanner in cPanel.

    Thanks,

    If you are running cPanel 11.25.0, it's a known bug and cPanel is aware of the problem.

    This is the solution from cPanel Tech. to fix this problem.

    edit: /usr/local/cpanel/Cpanel/ClamScanner.pm and find the following section:

    use SafeFile ();
    use Cpanel::SafeFind ();
    use Cpanel::OSSys ();
    use Cpanel::Encoder ();
    use Cpanel::Branding ();
    use vars qw(@ISA @EXPORT $VERSION);
    require Exporter;

    Just below "require Exporter;" he added the following line:

    require File::Scan::ClamAV;

    This module can be overwritten any time cPanel updates, so this cannot be considered a permanent fix, but this may help you

    Please note this thread is nearly 2 years old, from February of 2008. Please do not resurrect very old threads as the circumstances and software versions involved can change significantly over time.

    There is more than one cause to the reported symptoms and a single fix will not apply the same to all circumstances. The original poster in this thread could not have been using cPanel version 11.25 because it was not yet available at the time of writing in February 2008.

    In cPanel version 11.25 there have been further corrections and reliability improvements of the aforementioned integration with ClamAV; I recommend having automatic updates enabled to ensure that you receive the latest fixes and enhancements as they are released for availability to your configured cPanel build tree.
