webmail.<domain> reset

Hi there,

We're running whm/cpanel v11.25.0 on a number of servers, that are configured with the built-in WHM DNS cluster feature. They all sync up fine, and have run for a number of years without any issues.

Recently, for whatever reason, all custom webmail.<domain> A records (set to go to another IP Address) reset back to the servers IP address. It was interesting to note, all custom webmail.<domain> CNAME records were not effected though. All other A records, and so on, were left untouched.

The night before this problem, we received a number of notifications to say things (like nameserver, lfd, and so on) had failed, and automatic attempted restarts occurred. Eventually they came up automatically, so there wasn't a problem there.

We've fixed up the custom webmail.<domain> A records now, but want we can't figure out, is how this happened (to ensure it doesn't happen again!).

Has anyone else managing WHM/CPanel servers seen this issue before? Is it a bug in WHM/Cpanel?

Although I don't have a solution for you I just wanted to chime in with an extremely similar problem that may be part of this topic / issue.

I too am running 11.25 (release) with WHM DNS clustering several servers and recently just encountered this:

I created a new customer account with a dedicate IP on the server, and everything is working fine except for one thing - webmail.(customersdomain).com just brings you right to the customer's web site instead of prompting for the webmail login.

I took a look at httpd.conf and noticed that his dedicated IP is missing from the list in this part at the bottom:

In httpd.conf it says not to edit the file manually, so I'm not exactly sure how to fix the problem and will likely be submitting a ticket.

I know that's not exactly the same problem you're having, but it seems to be quite similar and I'm wondering if the source of our issues might be one in the same.
