What best way to upgrade to Apache 2, php 5 and MySQL latest

I am kind of new and never use the WHM > Software > Apache update before.

How can I update to latest php 5, Apache 2 and MySQl 5? I am on cPanel 10.8.1-S31

I have about 67 clients on the server hsoting diffrent scripts and such. Should I do this and what is the best way?

I usually have admins to do this, i wanted to give it try myself. The most detaile dyou can be would be the best.

The cPanel doesn't support Aache 2.0.x and/or MySQL 5.x, yet. You can upgrade Php to v5.x through the WHM. In addition, you can upgrade MySQL to v5.x, but you'll have to do that manually and not through either the WHM and/or the cPanel scripts at the prompt.

It's pretty much seamless ...

The only problem that I ran into when upgrading to PHP 5.0.5 from WHM is that during
the recompile, the Apache update commented out BOTH the original PHP4 module
lines and the new PHP5 module lines in /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf.

After the upgrade, just go into "httpd.conf" and uncomment the 2 lines pertaining to PHP5
and then do a restart on your Apache server and you should be up and running.

None that I've observed ....

Scripts and programs created for v4 will run just fine under v5 ....

Going to v5 just gives you a few more functions particularily with arrays and string handling
and also greatly extends PHP's OOP capabilities.

There are actually a lot of differences between PHP4 and 5 so some older scripts may not work...
