Default What is the max number of accounts Cpanel supports?

    Hey,

I just realized that linux has a limit with storing over 32,768 directories in a folder. Hence this is how many members one can have.

I'm wondering if Cpanel has already got a solution to this to hold more then 32K members all on 1 server?

Please let me know as I'm approaching the 32K mark really quickly.

    Thanks.
    Andre

If you mean /home having 32000 subdirectories, you can make a /home2 and cpanel will put them in there automatically. It will choose the partition with the most space but you can overide the default choice.

Yes that's exactly what I mean.

So I guess it won't be a problem on a linux right? I mean even if I make a home2/, old member pages in /home would still function?

    Please let me know....

He means if you have home and home2, Cpanel places new accounts on partition with most free space.

Hehe. I get the point. To many acconts for server to handle and you need to cluster it.

But I think it's still possible with free hosting because out of every 1000 people that signup to the free hosting, only 30 will put a webpage.

And their webpage will get hardly any traffic.

    So it's no problem actually.
