Default what should i do before changing a cpanel server ip? or easiest method?

    Hi there,

I'm moving one of my collocated servers to another DC. What is the easiest route or should I do before migrating it?

    1. NS IP
    2. Change cPanel license IP

    What else?

    How-to:

    1. Change main shared IP or would cPanel automatically change the main shared IP after the change?

How did you end up going with this?

I am about to do this shortly.

Have decreased TTL to 60 secs and switched the IP after the server has been moved.

    indeed.

the shared ip would be dedicated to the first site that you change, so after that you would need to edit httpd.conf manually to have ip show up the cpanel page or something else..

contact me on wht ultraunixnet if you need further info or mail me.

    Hi.
So I'm curious since I need to get off that darn SPEWS list and dump that bad IP.

Are you saying that all one needs to do is change the IP address, and possibly do a little bit of http.conf editing?

No need to notify cpanel or take any other drastic measure otherwise?

    Thanks,
    Jim

Reply from cpanel support was as follows for others interested:

Usually people send an email to billing asking for the change. Then when they hear back from billing in regards to the change being completed, they change the IP. You could also request a test license from billing for the new IP and then once everything is set on the server, have billing cancel the old IP and change it to the test IP/new IP.

    -end-
