you just want to install the latest kernel rpm for RHEL 3?
It's actually now at 2.4.21-27.0.1
If you don't know how to install an rpm, you probably shouldn't be messing around with the kernel.
Redhat enterprise 3 source can be found:

Indeed. Or if you just install it and already have that kernel running:
up2date -if kernel-source

why are the kernels so always out of date.
sickening mate
Actually they're not. Redhat patches known working versions against vulnerabilities and also backports updates from newer kernels into their release. Just because they aren't labled the same version means nothing. The kernels are not out of date, they are stableized by the redhat team. Further to that, redhat releases OS updates on a quarterly basis which include new features included in the most recent kernels. For instance, the 2.4.21 series of kernels for redhat enterprise includes some of the functionality found in the 2.6 branch.Originally Posted by ntfx

Indeed - RHE is about stability, not bells and whistles, which is just what you need on a 24*7 server open to the world.
