cpup was used to update cpanel,
after update and reboot, problem still exists.
domain/whm/ shows an error page saying host not found.

try running :
/scripts/reswhostmgr
try accesing directly
http://domain.com:2096/
finally... try /scripts/fixeverything
dunno :P

Try this:
killall -9 portsentry
/etc/rc.d/init.d/cpanel3 restart
/etc/rc.d/init.d/portsentry restart
WHM dies on one of our servers regularly.. its just something you'll have to get used to :P

problem solved after almost rebuild every thing!

we lost our whm themes on this happening so I created another one which is up to date
