WHM said Service failed but it's not

Hi all,

I have a strange problem in one of my servers. We have RHEL 3.0 and it get compromised and we reinstall the server, after the reinstalling we copied most of our configurations and data from our old HD but since then the services stop to respond and after a long work they started again but WHM still said httpd, cppop, cpsrvd, exim, ftpd, and imap faild but the they all work and when I try to restart them from the WHM I got a message like: ftpserver has failed, please contact the sysadmin and in 3 days a received more than 2000 email from the Service Monitor in the format: syslogd failed @ Fri Mar 12 08:49:55 2004. A restart was attempted automagicly. (each message with different service)

another thing, when I restart the server the IP based sites didn't work until I remove the IP's from WHM and add them again (before removing they are red and after re-adding they are green again).

any ideas why this is happening?

Did you ever find an answer to this? My WHM is showing apache failed, however, httpd is running and serving sites. Please advise.

I am using WHM 9.4.0 cPanel 9.7.1-C2 on RH 9 and my service status on exim failed for over 3 hours now. But it seems that exim still work because i can send and receive email.

Anyone knows why ?

still not working

I have the same problem, FTP works fine but server status shows that it has failed and you restart the service and it says failed. I have upgraded WHM to no avail. restarting chksrevd did nothing. Help

same Problem

Well i realize syslogd restarted alone after cron tasks today and now it seems that /var/log/messages is completly blank as well as secure

both of then (last logs) were stored as secure.1 and messages.1 is it normal?

the last thing in messages.1 was a reboot i did yesterday but until now messages still blank???

Regards to this best Cpanel Forum!!!

Claudio

but this doesn't work for. the exim in whm is red, however, i tried /etc/init.d/exim status

is still running!

Is there anyway i can fix it?

it runs in VPS account, and the apache in virtuozzo status shows red: stopped, but it shows in whm is running.

thanks
sean
