why is apache failing so much lately?

my support requests coming into me have increased over 7 times usual because of apache problems. most common is # being removed from virtualhost lines or things like that.

for 2 weeks now...... when is this going to stop?

is this happening to anyone else? i'm talking about over 30 machines doing the same problems.
