why does all mail to any aol user get rejected?

Do the rejects give you any errors? We don't have problems sending to AOLers except AOL's own tendency to queue up mail before delivery. More details, please.

Reverse DNS AOL will kick it back everytime.

I'll have to find one as I myself do have an AOL address I mail to regularly. It's a typically message cannot be delivered... we've given up.. etc.

I'm sorry but I don't quite follow..... reverse dns aol ?
Under Service Manager set exim to run on another port.
In our experience, AOL generally does not care about reverse DNS unless there is some other problem as well (i.e., they have also been getting spam from the server without reverse DNS). Without a more exact error, it's hard to pin it to any particular thing.

How would this affect mail being sent to aol and being rejected?
I've fould if you are using something like OutlookExpress and having trouble sending mail for AOL members, when you add the email account on OutlookExpress, check the box that says & my server requires authentication& and it will go out from them. Not sure if that is the problem you are having?
Web Hoster
not sure if this is an issue but it may be related. AOHell hyjacks your port 25 i fyou are logged into their network. If yuo use aol next time you get a chance just telnet yourbox.com 25 and watch aol smtp answer... communists bastards

any luck with this one? i'm finding my mail to AOL doesn't go through, i set exim to run on 26 in services as recommended, but it doesnt seem to help. AOL is a pretty big customer base to not be able to correspond with![]()
more than likely they have blacklisted the IP address of your smtp server fior spamming activities. One of your clients probably pounded their system with a bunch of spam which unfortunately results in avery customer on your sevrer not being able to send emailt o AOL since all of them use the same root IP address for the smtp server..

nope... most of my aol mail gets rejected.. and i've done tests on 3 different servers in different IP networks.. one of which is brand new allotment.... it's not aol blocking IP issue.
Setup rdns for the main IP on the server. AOL recently starting giving this a higher priority.
how do u activate rdns on the primary ip of a server? we got the same problem on a new server, rdns is not activated and they are rejecting email from it
