Default Wildcard SSL install through WHM

I am trying to install a wildcard SSL thorugh WHM and ran into an error.

The .csr was generated fine using the domain of: *.mydomain.com. I have receive the .crt from the company supplying the SSL and tried to install through the 'Install a SSL Certificate and Setup the Domain' section of WHM.

I copy/paste the .crt contents and hit 'browse' next to the domain. Everything is populated appropriately except for the IP, which I manually add. When I hit 'submit I get the following error...

"Sorry, the domain *.mydomain.com is not configured on this machine, please add it as a subdomain or parked domain before installing ssl. If you wish to install this certificate anyway you must configure it for the user 'nobody'."

Anyone run into this issue and have a resolution?

If you are attempting to install the Certificate on a user account, then you need to create the wildcard sub-domain before attempting to install the SSL Certificate. Otherwise, you need to set the user field to nobody.

    Hi kenneth-

Any reason why a wildcard would work for some subdomains and not others?

For example, I was able to install it using subdomain1.somedomain.com but then when I tried to secure www.somedomain.com it throws this error:

"The supplied wildcard certificate does not match the specified domain"

I used exactly the same procedure to install this one as the other one, several times actually and always get the error on the www version.

No idea off-hand. What is your full cPanel version number?
