    Question Will a reboot help?

I am used to the idea of rebooting my Windoze PC whenever software starts acting strangely. But will reboot help with this situation on our RedHat 8 box?

For the fun of it, I am turning this into poll. But really I'd like to hear you opinion on this

Last night we upgraded to Cpanel 7.2 S12 without problems. Tonight I wanted to install an RPM via WHM and the RPM list came up empty. Tried to rebuild the RPM database and nothing seemed to happen.

I then logged in via SSH and tried several things that simply had no effect. All of the following appeared to start and just never finish. No errors, just nothing:
    rpm -- rebuilddb
    rpm -- initdb
    /scripts/uprpm

Because we had a major issue with glibc last week, I manually tried to reinstall the glibc RPM. Once again, nothing happens.

Finally I tried /scripts/cpup. Wrote the few lines upt to "Cpanel updates are coming from layer2.cpanel.net" and then just stood there doing nothing.

In the meantime it seems like the important stuff like Apache, MySQL, Exim and Bind are working just fine.

What should I do? Will a reboot help?

    Thanks for sharing your thoughts

RedHag8 just doesn't seem very compatible with CPanel.. it's like a bug on top of a bug really. . .

I'd make backups on another drive just in case.

A bug on top of a bug? So you mean Linux is not perfect !

Anyway, we did a reboot just now and all problems seem solved. There must be some pieces of MS code in there somewhere
