    Default Windows 2000

    Hi all,

On the front page of the cPanel site it shows a Windows 2000 development percentage, i.e. how far it is with its development before becoming available I would guess, but is this accurate as other links show dates which I presume relate to last year (dec etc).

Anyone using cPanel on a Windows 2000 server system at all..

    Thanks

    Mac

No it's not out for Windows yet... It has said 75% for months. Personally I don't think they give a toss, probably haven't (and don't intend to) release it for Windows. Get ensim or H-Sphere, they're less buggy and more secure anyway...

Am using H-Sphere on reseller level and hating every moment. User unfriendly and many errors (could be bugs, could be setup problems).

I would give my left nut to get Cpanel to run in Windows 2000. Everything else out there is full of bugs. Command Matrix is taking forever to get anything done and HELM is a pain in the ass and can only do a tiny fraction of the things that Cpanel can do.

    Default remember 4.0?

I don't know if there have been improvements to Cpanel's development cycle since the olden days (a couple years ago)... but I think a lot of people are singing high as a resulting of their contributions to the realease of Cpanel 4

Seriously, this is a huge deal. We're getting accounts from many different hosting companies, and we need to offer service to EVERYONE how they had it before (if they were hosted on Windows before, we have to host themon Windows). I don't know what to do about a control panel for Windows unless you guys finish CPanel for Windows! PLEASE!

    Wink Money...

I would think the company and its developers would really want to hurry and finish the windows edition because i know myself that windows servers Administrators would pay the money to have such a great program as there are not any programs of this type for windows that are any good. Or are there? Anyone know of a good reliable program like Cpanel???

Cpanel for *nix still has a long way to go, i.e. better reseller support, clustering, etc.

I can't wait for the day when we'll be able to administer all the cpanel boxes from one central location.

Afraid I have given up on waiting....

Windows 2003 is out now so most are working towards getting the new version for Win2003 out, let alone their first version for windows2000.

It is a shame it has not been out before now, but can't have everything hey, will just have to stick to alternates that can cover both OSs unless cPanel pull something miraculous out of the bag... Which is a shame...

I would imagine tho a windows version on cPanel would be very different to a linux version of cPanel, making updates and fixes much more differcult plus also confusing to users.

I have no doubts you are correct, but consider the amount of time that a Windows version has been on the cards at 75%. before they finish it, it will be outdated and no one is going to want it as there new windows servers will then come with win2003, unless someone is mad enough to jump in with a functional with clients on it win2000 server, which is highly unlikely...

Don't get me wrong, I adore the way that cPanel looks (customisable) and provides, even with the problems people report, as a bit of linux command line knowledge can get most things sorted out, it is just that I would prefer the same solution on both OSs, and cPanel can not provide that, so thats the way it goes..... for me anyway..
