I can typically troubleshoot and resolve most problems I run into with cPanel. I was having a particular problem where WHM wasn't calculating bandwidth usage correctly -- a site that normally passes say a gig a day was (according to WHM) passing a few hundred megs a day over the course of several weeks.
So, I shoot a support ticket to CP and receive the response to run the scripts:
/scripts/updatenow
/scripts/cleanbw
which I did without success.
The next response I received was:
"In order to diagnose the problem with the server, we will need the main ip address and root password."
To which I responded:
"You having root access is not an option."
And the final response from CP was:
"Without root access we can provide no technical support."
I find it a little odd that CP refuses to provide tech support without root access. I am suppose to give root access to my box to someone I don't know, have no idea of their skill level so they can poke around (and make changes)? Any information they need to troubleshoot this problem could of been worked through me, but alas withouth root access they closed the ticket.
This is absolutely crazy!
