    Default Zend Optimiser Issues

    Just installed zend optimiser on:

    CentOS 4 x86_64
    Cpane latest STABLE
    php 4.41
    apache 1.3.34

    Using the following method:

    ssh'd in as root

    wget http://downloads.zend.com/optimizer/...-x86_64.tar.gz

    untar
    install

    Ran fine.....

    PHP 4.4.1 (cli) (built: Jan 16 2006 22:03:26)
Copyright (c) 1997-2004 The PHP Group
Zend Engine v1.3.0, Copyright (c) 1998-2004 Zend Technologies
with Zend Extension Manager v1.0.9, Copyright (c) 2003-2006, by Zend Technologies
with Zend Optimizer v2.6.2, Copyright (c) 1998-2006, by Zend Technologies

    However....

Only seems to work from root and for none of the other users.

    Also tried the /scripts/installzendopti....
    To no avail.

    Where have i gone wrong?

    Thanks

What do you mean with 'you can only run it as root user'?

    Login WHM as root

    1) Update apache

    select php 4.3.11

    end run /scripts/installzendopt

    Same issue still applies.

    Slight misunderstanding:

when i php -v logged in as root i get:

    PHP 4.3.11 (cli) (built: Jan 17 2006 23:43:59)
Copyright (c) 1997-2004 The PHP Group
Zend Engine v1.3.0, Copyright (c) 1998-2004 Zend Technologies
with Zend Extension Manager v1.0.9, Copyright (c) 2003-2006, by Zend Technologies
with Zend Optimizer v2.6.2, Copyright (c) 1998-2006, by Zend Technologies

however... i then try to load a .php zend encoded page from an account held on the same server:

    "Zend Optimizer not installed"

So... i ssh in as the account user and run php -v again:

    PHP 4.3.11 (cli) (built: Jan 17 2006 23:43:59)
Copyright (c) 1997-2004 The PHP Group
Zend Engine v1.3.0, Copyright (c) 1998-2004 Zend Technologies

As you can see, no zend optimizer?!?!?

    Ulitimatly confused.

Create a .php file with the following in it:

    <?php
    phpinfo();
    ?>

Then run it and search for the php.ini locating. Open the php.ini with pico/nano and look if you have the correct Zend Optmizer lines in your php.ini.

I too have face problems in installing Zend on Php 4.4.1. Downgrade your php version to 4.3.10 using easyapache script and then install Zend using installzendopt script.
Login to the server and execute the below commands as root :-
    /scripts/easyapache
    Select 7th option
    Select PHP version 4.3.10.
Select 'Exit' and then say 'Yes' to save.
Let the script execute completely and then restart httpd.
    service httpd stop
    service httpd start

Now install Zend optimizer using the script
    /scripts/installzendopt

It should install Zend for you. You can check using the url :- http://ServerIp/phpinfo.php

Disabling versioning solved the problem for me (versioning is listed in the easy apache config screen). Optimiser now installs without any issues on my x86_64 machine. Hope that helps.
