move mysql data for 3 site from old hdd to new reloaded hdd.

stop mysql
update it with old data
start mysql.

Is the old data stored in .sql files, or in the origional DB files, and are the MySQL versions the same, or are they different versions?

Also, does the new MySQL have data in it already, or does the old data have to be moved over and you are done.
