Question as Basic as Basic could be

I know I'm in trouble when I go to FAQ, and get stuck at How to LogOn.
I'm a mod w/ admin authority at a forum that uses CPanel pwrd by VBulletin, so I am familiar w/ what lies beneath the surface, here, and how to operate in the administrative mode, but have never accessed a Cpanel on my own server. and, thus, am very raw in that respect.

I am sharing server space, and have received my IP, DNS addresses and logon codes to access the server, which was setup for me by the fellow I share server space w/.
    However...
    1) When I use the IP I land on a "There is no website configured at this address".CPanel page.
    2) The URL resolves to the page of the domain's existing name servers.
    3) The NS1.[MyDomain].com and NS2.[MyDomain].com as well as the actual IP's are not being accepted by my registrar for the domain when I attempt to revise my DNS
    -and-
    4) where do the four digits following the colon at the end of the url come from? Off of one of my IPs? This number was not included in the "Here you go! " message I received from my server "partner".

I am not dodging the FAQ. I figure that once I get on my server, much will become self evident and will than go to FAQ for info as needed and vesit here from time to time. TXIA for any help that you can offer this newb on his 1st post at the forum. (Do you hear the violin playing in the background?-hehe)

Thankyou for the link. I will take advantage of it.
I have scraped up some info- What was throwing me in the Cpanel FAQ, was a misunderstanding/some confusion over the the whm/cpanel distinction and the corresponding :2087, :2086/ :2083, :2082 uses. Additionally, I didn't realize that the Cpanel was accessible w/ the IP address + these #'s- the example shows the correct form as being the url form ie "http://www.[yourdomain].com:2087 and it didn't occur to me that this would also work w/ the IP.
Am still uncertain about how the url for the DNS is synched w/ the IP address, but can access my Cpanel now and have a good tutorial to look at from your link.

Default Can't find file to manage per tutorial

I went to the posted tutorial link: http://www.webhostgear.com/3.html and much of what is being discussed is not present on my WHM panel ie
    Primary Nameserver:...
This is where you would use your datacentre's default name servers such as ns1.ev1servers.net and ns2.ev1servers.net...
No other configurations are required making this a snap.
I don't have anything to open up to manage this with.

Below, is the sidebar items that appear on my WHM. Am I missing something?

    Cluster/Remote Access
    Setup Remote Access Key
    Account Information
    List Subdomains
    Account Functions
    Multi-Account Functions
    Themes
    Change WHM Theme
    cPanel 10.0.0-R161
    Branding
    Add-ons
    Addon Script Manager
    Configure ClamAV Scanner
    Configure cPanel Cron Times
    Schedule Statistics Log Times
    Mod Security
    Setup Spamd Startup Configuration
    Configure Statistics Software

Yes. The missing options have been turned off by whoever has root access to WHM. The person you are sharing sever space with appears to have disabled them.
