Would like a step by step on creating a whm theme ball

As I said in the title really....seem to be having problems with my whm theme and I believe it is the tar balling that i am doing wrong.

As far as I know, the themeball's are just tar'd and gzip'd files, so the following should work to compress it:

tar zcvf themename.whmtheme foldername/
