Nothing can connect to MySQL database!

    I tried to import a MySQL dump into my WHM phpmyadmin tonight and it's caused all of the sites on my server to fail at connecting to their databases, so they're all down.

    The databases imported but have no tables in them, it didn't seem to have overwritten any of the existing tables as those all still have their data.

    There doesn't seem to be anything in the error log but this:

    cphulkd rejected registration attempt for cpaneld with: 400 Unable to connect to database backend: Failed to connect to mysql db: cphulkd

    I've checked my.cnf and it just had this:

    [mysqld]
    innodb_file_per_table=1

    So I stopped MySQL and changed it to this:

    [mysqld]
    port=3306
    socket=/tmp/mysql.sock
    innodb_file_per_table=1
    [client]
    port=3306
    socket=/tmp/mysql.sock

    Started MySQL and still the same. I'm running a graceful server reboot now, if anyone has a clue what else I could try please help me.

    Already put through a paid support ticket on #2720998.

    UPDATE: Graceful reboot didn't help.

    UPDATE: Running MySQL 5.1, should I update to 5.5? It's possible the import came from a 5.5 installation but I can't verify that.

    I am having the same problem. Did you resolve this issue? How?

    You should likely disable cPHulk Brute Force Protection if it is causing the failure message to see if you can then connect. You can disable cPHulk in WHM > cPHulk Brute Force Protection area.

    If you cannot log into WHM due to the failures, then you can disable and stop it on the backend using the following:

    Code:
    /usr/local/cpanel/bin/cphulk_pam_ctl --disable
    for i in `ps aux | grep -i cphulk | grep -v grep | awk {'print $2'}` ;do kill $i ;done
    If MySQL is then working properly at that point, then please submit a ticket for us to investigate further.

    Brute Force was not enabled. I also turned off the CSF firewall and same results. Very strange.

    Hello,

    It appears we are still waiting for login credentials to WHM for the issue. The key you provided for connecting is a private key rather than public and requires a passphrase. We need that passphrase as well.
