/usr/bin/updatedb -f "nfs,smbfs,........

    This runs every day;
    # /usr/bin/updatedb -f "nfs,smbfs,ncpfs,proc,devpts" -e "/tmp,/var/tmp,/usr/tmp,/afs,/net
    Would i be right in thinking that as i don't have NFS etc, i can speed this up by simply changing this cron job to:
    #slocate -u
    ??

    You can remove the nfs file type from the config file. You can use -l 0 to turn of the security checks to make it more faster.
