I think this was related to a disk space issue on this particular server - after fixing that problem the sa2 error went away.
Had the same notification from my server last night.
There are no 0-byte files in /var/log/sa.
I followed the instructions here after updating my cPanel install and removed
SSLProtocol +All -SSLv2 -SSLv3
Ended up forcing the upgrade via the instructions in this thread: https://forums.cpanel.net/threads/curl-with-asynchdns.365092/
