    mySQL Crashes after /scripts/upcp update

I have this same problem.. trying an upgrade to 4.1 to see if it fixes it.. but I think it could have something to do with the shared libraries too: libmysqlclient.so.12 etc, I've spotted some errors in the apache log file since the upgrade. Mysql user is setup correct on the system...

Named failure after upcp ran today

It didn't.. but when I checked the logs closer, it looks like the cpanel update did something to affect /etc/rndc.key. I re-chmod and chown'd it, and then bind started again..

Named failure after upcp ran today

Every since upcp ran today, named will not start on our box. I see no errors in /var/log/messages, but after getting to the end of loading the zone files, named simply reports "failed", or rather, the cpanel script does. I really can't find any errors mentioned anywhere, and no changes were...

Reoccuring server lock ups. Any advice?

Reoccuring server lock ups. Any advice?

We moved the swap partition from the raid array. I'm not convinced that was the solution, but for the time being we're back to stability.

Reoccuring server lock ups. Any advice?

Well, this time we lasted a bit longer.. before the lock up: 01:23:10 up 3 days, 19:42, 1 user, load average: 359.61, 334.09, 222.19 1355 processes: 1346 sleeping, 1 running, 8 zombie, 0 stopped CPU states: cpu user nice system irq softirq iowait idle total...

Reoccuring server lock ups. Any advice?

UPDATE: After some more digging around I came across a mailing list (i can't remember offhand now) where someone had a similar problem and mentioned that the swap _may_ be the cause, especially when on a raid setup. Well, our swap partition is actually on a raid partition. We've setup a new...

Reoccuring server lock ups. Any advice?

Well, that was something I checked but again there was nadda. Basically it went like this: Jul 8 20:39:00 forest CROND[20236]: load monitor cron Jul 8 20:40:00 forest CROND[20979]: bfd Jul 8 20:40:00 forest CROND[20981]: (root) CMD (/usr/local/cpanel/bin/dcpumon >/dev/null 2>&1)...

Reoccuring server lock ups. Any advice?

Okay.. maybe I mis interpreted as I thought you were wanting me to quit and look at the running processes. That looks to provide some more data, but the likes of imap, gzip etc do not have any further info. EDIT: Neither does crond

Reoccuring server lock ups. Any advice?

Well, I would if I could, but like I have said - the system becomes unresponsive so fast it's impossible to see what processes are running. Like I've said, I have a logging script running every 3 seconds, but even that doesn't catch anything... I've posted the last time that managed to run and...

Reoccuring server lock ups. Any advice?

The logging system (which runs every 3 seconds) last recorded at 20:43:07 But, my top session died at: 20:57:47 During that time it was unresponsive but the top session updated at that time. Does that indicate any sort of hardware problem with regards to I.O - hard disk activity lock...

Reoccuring server lock ups. Any advice?

Here it goes again. I'm going through a log file now to see if we have a better idea of the running processes this time or not.. 20:57:47 up 1 day, 19:38, 1 user, load average: 491.84, 446.42, 272.24 1073 processes: 1068 sleeping, 1 running, 4 zombie, 0 stopped CPU states: cpu user...

It's actually a fedora rh system.. not sure if that makes much difference to your suggestion or not.. The 374.4% is cpu idle.

Reoccuring server lock ups. Any advice?

There's 1G. We've scanned for root kits and we're coming back clean. We have a strict partition lock down too. For the time being we have increased logging hoping to find something of more use. Our mrtg stats do not show a spike in traffic before, during or after when this hits..

Reoccuring server lock ups. Any advice?

Okay.. We haven't had anything like this before. Usually if it's going down due to high load we may see multiple processes running using as much memory / cpu as they can.

Reoccuring server lock ups. Any advice?

When I say locked up, it's locked up due to high load. Pings are fine, just services do not respond and ssh will not connect etc..

Reoccuring server lock ups. Any advice?

The top is from an open session left on - and that is the last screen left when we had to hit the reset switch..
