Hello,

I work for an arts charity in the UK that has a self managed server which hosts two websites, city-arts.org.uk and openartsforum.org.uk. We are getting a 500 Internal Server Error on both these sites. The error log was saying this:

[Thu Apr 11 20:13:52 2013] [error] [client 173.199.119.131] Premature end of script headers: index.php
[Thu Apr 11 20:13:52 2013] [error] [client 173.199.119.131] /usr/bin/php: error while loading shared libraries: libjpeg.so.62: failed to map segment from shared object: Cannot allocate memory

I asked the server provider for some help. They said,

1. try increasing the PHP memory size within WHM -> Service Configuration -> PHP Configuration Editor to at least 256M - which I had already done and,

2. try recompiling Apache and PHP through WHM -> Software -> EasyApache and make sure all modules you want are included.

I tried the second and nothing really changed - the 500 Internal Server Error was still there. The error log now says:

[Sat Apr 13 01:59:07 2013] [error] [client 65.55.213.73] Premature end of script headers: index.php
[Sat Apr 13 01:59:09 2013] [error] [client 65.55.213.73] /usr/bin/php: error while loading shared libraries: libcrypto.so.10: failed to map segment from shared object: Cannot allocate memory

I am pretty sure there is enough free memory on the server. Has anyone encountered this error before? Has anyone got any idea what I can do to fix it? Really struggling with this.

I am a complete cPanel & WHM novice. I've been through pages and pages of google results and cannot find a solution.

I would be very grateful for any help.

Thank you.
