    Hi,

I'm trying to setup a new shared host purchased from Memset in the UK. I am having trouble getting the simples of PHP files to work and I get the error:

    500 Internal Server Error
The request was not completed. The server met an unexpected condition.
    paydaaa1.miniserver.com/~paydayg1/test_php.php (port 80)

I have looked on the forum and have checked things like file permissions (test_php.ini is 644, public_html is 755).

    Please help.

    Many thanks,

    Andy

    Hello Andy,

You'll need to check with your hosting provider to see if they can check the error logs for more details unless you have an error_log file outputting in public_html location.

Also, it might be that your provider does not support UserDir requests for a temporary url such as domain.com/~username/ as you are using. If that's the case, you could set your hosts file to view your domain at that location prior to it working there. Here's a discussion on how to do that on various OS:

Thanks Tristan. I'm going to assign a domain name to the account to see if that fixes the problem. I'll try and remember to post an update.
