    Hi,

Getting 500 internal server error while logging to domainname.com/cpanel and domainname/webmail.
But can login to cpanel and webmail if I use domainname.com:cpanel and domainname.com:webmail

    No problem accessing the site.

    Regards
    Sanjux

What version of cpanel are you running. The stable release is broken right now as of the apache security update on Monday. We're still waiting for the 9.4.0 version to have a STABLE release.

    Found Out!

    Hi,

Thanks for ur replies. It was really a problem with ScriptAlias /cpanel /usr/local/cpanel/base/redirect.cgi

I changed the path to ScriptAlias /cpanel /usr/local/cpanel/cgi-sys/redirect.cgi after copying the redirect.cgi to the cg-sys directory. And it worked fine.

    Thanks once again.

    Warm regards
    Sanjux

    Re: Found Out!

    Hey all,

    I have the same problem.

And it looks like the problem is indeed with the redirect script.

Anyone knows when there will be an official fix ?

    Thanks!

I found a line in the httpd.conf file that read:

    ScriptAliasMatch /cpanel /usr/local/cpanel/cgi-sys/redirect.cgi

I removed that line and it is working fine now.

    Hope this helps...

    Upgrade CPanel

Changing my upgrade prefs to 'Release' instead of 'Stable' and upgrading Cpanel is what finally made this work for me. I hated to do it -- feels unsafe.

And incidentally, I monitored my Apache error log while testing the /whm redirect, and found this:

[Thu Jun 17 12:09:13 2004] [error] Premature end of script headers: /usr/loc
    al/cpanel/base/whmredirect.cgi

at the beggining of the redirect.cgi script

    #!/usr/bin/perl -T

    remove the "-T" option

    and it will work fine

I have already lost a few customers because of this bug.

Most of the users only use their webmail and now it is down for them so their account is useless at the time being.

And I am not able to teach hundreds of customers about using ports instead of those URLs and I am not also able to describe them why these problems happen from time to time.

Anyone aware when new stable version will come out and will cover this bug?

For the webmail link and such not working, ensure the permissions and ownerships are correct. We found that the group was wrong on one of our servers.

    Should look as follows;

    cd /usr/local/cpanel/cgi-sys

    -rwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 712 Jun 18 07:44 wredirect.cgi*

Disabling SUEXEC is the only thing that solved the problem for me.

What is the downside of a disabled SUEXEC?

Here is my understanding. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

If you disable SuExec, it's difficult to track which user is running which CGI program.
SuExec allows to run CGI programs only when the file ownership matches the account holder's username.
