7.4 Gb file move from 1 server to the other

    Hello,

    I would like to transfer one huge file from one server to a new one. How is it possible?

    I'd use scp in a screen session incase you get logged out. Could also nohup that puppy if you don't want to use screen.

    if it is a file then do

    $>cat filename | ssh -l root your.otherbox.com "cat > /where/your/wantfile/filename"

    if it is a directory

    tar -cf - directory | ssh -l root your.otherbox.com "cat > /path/directory.tar"
