    Hello,
    I am having a lot of issues with Tomcat 5.0.28 installed via WHM. I was using Tomcat 4 installed manually and it was working great but did not open index.jsp as default page in any case (set as DirectoryIndex in httpd.conf, as welcome file in web.xml... never).

    Now, with Tomcat 5:

    1) It does not create the catalina.out nor the catalina.err file if started via WHM (it does if I start it manually from the shell, with the following command:

    ./bin/jsvc -user tomcat -cp ./bin/bootstrap.jar -Djava.endorsed.dirs=./common/endorsed org.apache.catalina.startup.Bootstrap -debug -outfile ./logs/catalina.out -errfile ./logs/catalina.err -verbose -security

    2) It does not work opening http://www.mydomain.com:8080/test.jsp while it works opening http://www.mydomain.com:8080/mydir/test.jsp
    3) It NEVER works without the :8080 (that is, mod_jk apparently does not work)

    I checked my configuration and I have:

    httpd.conf
    -----------

    LoadModule jk_module libexec/mod_jk.so

    AddModule mod_jk.c
    Include "/usr/local/apache/conf/jk.conf"

    In the VirtualHost section of my "mydomain.com":

    <IfModule mod_jk.c>
    JkMount /*.jsp ajp13
    JkMount /servlet/* ajp13
    JkMount /servlets/* ajp13
    </IfModule>

    The files jk.conf, workers.properties and workers2.properties are in /etc/httpd/conf.

    server.xml
    ------------
    <Host name="mydomain.com" appBase="/home/mydomain/public_html">
    <Context path="" reloadable="true" docBase="/home/mydomain/public_html" debug="1"/>
    </Host>
    <Host name="www.mydomain.com" appBase="/home/mydomain/public_html">
    <Context path="" reloadable="true" docBase="/home/mydomain/public_html" debug="1"/>
    </Host>

    Can anybody help me please? I think I am lost...

    Thank you in advance

    Stefano

    Resolved

    Ok, sometimes I should just get out, have a coffee or something else rather than installing Tomcat :p

    The root context has been resolved adding the servlets support either manually or from WHM instead of using the tomcat admin application.

    The mod_jk was not working due to an AddHandler in httpd.conf that gave jsp pages to jakarta-servlets2. Once removed, it worked like a charm!

    How did you resolve the catalina.out problem?
    Tomcat on our java servers doesn't create it and I cannot find out why.

    Could you please help?
