I really would like to know what really is the problem here. Is it cpanel or what? Please choose the following and reason pls(or give your comments):

1) It is really cpanel. There are lots of bugs in it.

2) basically it is some part cpanel's fault and another the user. users are not well informed on how to use the product.

3) it is entirely the user's problem. lack of experience and trying to be mr know it all.

nah ... i am going to purchase cpanel soon and I keep on seeing this forum posters posting all sorts of problems and some I really see a serious problem to a hosting company. Although I have seen some posters who post theese are just newbs ... but i would really like to know the actual thing.

You're wrong if you thing that problems here are posted only by newbies. Maybe you're not well informed but what this forum &says& about cpanel is not always fair for cpanel. This is a support forum so is logical to be posted mainly problems from any user (of any level). I think that if you want to have a better idea you should :
- ask people that you know and trust about their opinion
- visit this forum often
- check the bug reports and the features requests (there is a bug reporting system...check it if you wish).
- check what others say on other boards about cpanel
- try and work with cpanel
- have clear idea of what your knowledge level is

I believe that only if you do all the above you can have a valid idea about cpanel.

For me cpanel works and works very well, although I'm not an expert so I cannot have a really valid opinion on cpanel. I leave this for those who really know or for all the Mr. I Know .

mike .. thanx for your input ...

basically why i said newbs is the fact that many of them just bring up servers with no real knowledge of networking/unix systems .... and please not that i am saying they can't ... by all means ...

i just want to make sure the problems are based on inability for users to use it properly rather than the software itself ... i am at present on the beta and i would dare say two things ...

1) it rocks!
2) support from cpanel is superb!

but i still need that little assurance from users ... we have many users using it on diff scenarios .... so this is just to get a feel of them ....

Personally,
I would say that Cpanel is probably one of the best, if not the best of control panels. Our users love it. Occasionally a bug will creep up, but as pointed out, it is generally fixed rather quickly. Often times, problems posted in these forums are problems that I have never come across, even though I'm running the same build, etc. It can be a variety of issues. I think you will be better off running Cpanel and would offer my 2cents and recommend it :)

My 2¢ worth. Canadian money, so it's not worth much ;), but...

I find cpanel has it's share of advantages and disadvantages. For end users, it's one of the best systems because it's so easy to use and has so many features. It's only real drawback is stability, but it's not that serious. I've had a couple problems but they were only short lived. Some users have never had a problem while others have several problems. Everyones server is set up differently and it would be quite a job to add new features to cpanel without running into some problems.

Overall, I think the advantages are worth the occasional drawback. If you needed the absolute best reliability, like to host a site for NASA, I wouldn't use it. Of course with a site like that, you'd likely not want to use any web based interface. :)
