    I have recently registered 2 nameservers with my domain registar.
    All works fine exept that the name servers are not suplying A records.
    Is this normal?
    Should the registered name servers provide A records? or is it something on my side that needs to be done.

    I added A entrys for my name servers(NS1 and NS2) from the WHM basic server configuration but I still have the same problem.
    Also there is an A record on the domain added in the dns zone.

    This is the whole zone
    $ttl 38400
    crdserver.net. IN SOA server.crdserver.net. root.localhost. (
    1172785335
    10800
    3600
    604800
    38400 )
    crdserver.net. IN NS server.crdserver.net.
    crdserver.net. IN A 89.34.116.11
    www.crdserver.net. IN CNAME crdserver.net
    mail.crdserver.net. IN CNAME crdserver.net
    ftp.crdserver.net. IN CNAME crdserver.net
    crdserver.net. IN MX 10 crdserver.net.

    This is what I get under dnsstuff.com:
    89.34.116.11 PTR record: crdserver.net. [TTL 38400s] [A=None] *ERROR* There is no A record for crdserver.net. (may be negatively cached).

    I also have access to my DNS zones for my IP, my isp granted my access so I can make modifications to my ptr address and to other dns zones.

    Wha can I do about this?

    Make sure the DNS zone for crdserver.net also says:
    Code:
    NS1     "A"        89.34.112.12
    NS2     "A"        89.34.116.11

    It seems I can't add the root dns zone from WHM because I have no way of revesing it after that if added from WHM.
    My ISP allowed me to make modifications to the reverse zone so I can set up my ptr record, if I create a zone from WHM it will not bind with the reverse zone, so I have to create them from webmin, and here is the problem.
    When creating the master zone forward and reverse from webmin I ran in to some problems, the zone will not stand and it will get erased after I add let's say a zone for any domain from WHM the master zone will get erased for some reason, I'm in a total dilema.

    When creating the dns zone from WHM for crdsrv.net it will create a zone with the file
    .crdserver.net.db";
    in name.conf it will apear as
    zone "server.crdserver.net" {
    type master;
    file "/var/named/server.crdserver.net.db";
    };
    -----------------------------------------------------------------
    The above tipe of file won't work with a reverse zone file : 89.34.116.rev
    The reverse zone is described in the named.config as.
    zone "116.34.89.in-addr.arpa" {
    type master;
    file "/var/named/89.34.116.rev";
    allow-update { none; };
    };

    When creating it from webmin it works just fine, it generates something like this.
    zone "crdserver.net" {
    type master;
    file "/var/named/crdserver.net.hosts";
    allow-update { none; };
    };
    In stead of how WHM creates it with :"crdserver.net.db";

    and the reverse address seems to work like this.

    The only problem is when I add another dns entry from WHM the entrys in named.conf get erased.
    This are the entrys that get erased after adding another zone from WHM

    Entry for the master forward zone
    zone "crdserver.net" {
    type master;
    file "/var/named/crdserver.net.hosts";
    allow-update { none; };
    };

    And entry for the Reverse zone.
    zone "116.34.89.in-addr.arpa" {
    type master;
    file "/var/named/89.34.116.rev";
    allow-update { none; };
    };

    I'm totaly in a puzzle as WHM makes it imposible for me to add reverse entrys in any way.

    Fixed the erasing problem, but still no A record for my ptr record.
    Here is my improved crdsrv.net zone.

    ; cPanel 10.9.0-BETA_137
    ; Zone file for crdserver.net
    $TTL 14400
    @ 86400 IN SOA ns1.crdserver.net. cretudaniels417.hotmail.com. ( 2007030413 ; serial, todays date+todays
    86400 ; refresh, seconds
    7200 ; retry, seconds
    3600000 ; expire, seconds
    86400 ) ; minimum, seconds

    crdserver.net. 86400 IN NS ns1.crdserver.net.
    crdserver.net. 86400 IN NS ns2.crdserver.net.

    ns2.crdserver.net. IN A 89.34.116.11
    ns1.crdserver.net. IN A 89.34.112.12

    crdserver.net. IN A 89.34.116.11

    localhost.crdserver.net. IN A 127.0.0.1

    crdserver.net. IN MX 0 crdserver.net.

    mail IN CNAME crdserver.net.
    www IN CNAME crdserver.net.
    ftp IN CNAME crdserver.net.
    server 14400 IN A 89.34.116.11
    ns1 14400 IN A 89.34.112.12
    ns2 14400 IN A 89.34.116.11

    What I did is recostruct the dns entry for the main domain on the server.
    It was scrabled and the A entry for the server name and the nameserver entrys use to be separate, they all use to be as a separate file zones, what I did, I deleted the nameserver entrys and the A entry, I then created the primary zone for the main domain"crdserver.net" and a reverse address, after that, I added an A entry for the host name which added it self on the main domain zone, the same hapend with the Nameservers, they added them selfs to the main domain zone, but......still no A record for my ptr:(
    Dnsstuff reports.
    89.34.116.11 PTR record: crdserver.net. [TTL 38400s] [A=None] *ERROR* There is no A record for crdserver.net. (may be negatively cached).

    What else can it be from?
