recently my mysql error log has started to fill up with the following:

Aborted connection 148 to db: 'eximstats' user: 'eximstats' host: `localhost' (Got timeout reading communication packets)

Every few minutes it seems, only started recently.

My wait_timeout in /etc/my.cnf is 15, i would have thought that was fine, and nothings really changed on the server, no other problems with mysql, eximstats and all mail services seem to be running fine too.

At least we aren't alone. Hopefully someone can suggest a fix.

Thanks,

aborted connection - error reading packet

I use oscommerce shopping cart. I've only noticed it today but might have been occurring for the last 2-3 weeks or so ... (last time I submitted a dummy order) -- but when my orders are submitted, they take 45 seconds to complete. This also happens to be where there are a lot of inserts into tables. Queries/updates on the site are fine ...

Checked mysql logs and a lot of the "aborted connection - error reading packet" are coming up.

This is definitely something very recent.

From the 2-3 hours I've spent looking on google for answers  -- seems to be very likely mysql 4.0.20 or php 4.3.8 ....

ch3ng, I'm running the same versions as you are. Has anyone found a fix for this? I asked The Planet for some insight on this, and they really had no idea how to go about fixing it.

I have yet to find a fix. I haven't tried downgrading PHP due to security reasons.

I am now running WHM 9.4.0 cPanel 9.5.0-E28. Still having the same problems. I might disable eximstats temporarily, and re-enable it to see if that cures the problem. I have NO idea how to go about fixing this.

You guys had a chance to play with it yet?

Has anyone worked a solution to this yet? I'm having the same problem. I think I will disable eximstats until it is resolved.

I'm still having this issue as well.

is mysql running on a remote server at all?
For me mysql is local, and not on a remote machine. I hope thats what you meant.
