    Email me when a person logs in

    Hi all ,

    I am using a shared hosting and wish to write a script to email me when anybody logs into the system via ftp or cpanel ,

    what file can i check for access to Cpanel also WHM

    also can i block access to WHM down to one ip address ?

    I am afraid you can not use script or restrict access to your WHM on shared hosting.

    You can use WHM > Host Access Control to only allow access to set IPs for whostmgrd service there. If you allow only your IPs and then deny all others, then only you will be able to access WHM service.

    As for what files to check for FTP logins, you can check /var/log/messages for ftpd logins. For cPanel logins, it would be /usr/local/cpanel/logs/access_log location. You'd be best off enabling cPHulk Brute Force Protection to check for authentication attempts to cpanel accounts that fail. It will automatically block any users who fail on a set number of authentication tries.
