Hello,

I have assigned a dedicated IP to an account. However, when I am trying to access the website using the IP address I see only the default Apache/Cpanel page.

Is there any caching that might be causing this problem? I can see the IP as reserved for that account on WHM. The domain does not point to that address but I was hoping that I could access the account using only the IP address. Is that possible?

Thanks,
John

Yes it is possible with an account with a dedicated IP address.

Do you have a website uploaded to that account yet and you are still seeing the default page? Or did you just set up the account and not upload any content yet?

Yes, I have uploaded some content. I also have a problem with the hostname of the server, i Don't know if it might be related to this one as well. Once I got the server it had the hostname at cpanel.com domain. I changed it but when I go to see the IPs I can see both hostnames on the server's IP. Also the account that's on it's own IP cannot be accessed from hostname/~accountname.

Any ideas why that might be happening?

Thank you for your time,
John

I tried some other things as well but didn't work. For example, I have a subdomain let's say www2.mydomain.com pointing to an IP on the server. I create a new account using this IP and domain and I still can't access the files using the domain (which points properly at the server IP).

Any ideas would be highly appreciated.

Make sure that all the entrys has been change to new IP.For example in httpd.conf, zone file for domain, in /var/cpanel/users/username.Then restart apache, named on server.

All of these seem to be fine. I am using an external DNS server to point the domain to the server but on the other hand I cannot access the IP itself with it's contents. Seems that it hits the hostname IP not the one dedicated to the account...
