    Using FlashFXP.

Is it possible to change the permissions of the backup folder to anything other than root:root without breaking the auto backup of WHM?

Ex : can I change the group to wheel and use the primary user account on my server which is in the wheel group to download via a symbolic link in the primary users home directory?

    Ex :

    cd /home/user
    ln -s /backup user_acct_backups

where /backup is the top level of the backup partition
which makes the data in the backup directory available via standard FTP practices as it appears the ftp server does not understand the command su -.

Not quite the answer to what you were asking- but use the sftp feature for Flashfxp and then you can download as root - if that is what you really want to do.

Good suggestion but I dont allow root to FTP/SSH directly..
I know there are other posts on the site regarding this topic but what i am after is if i change the owner group to wheel will that break the backup process.
