    Hello All,

I have a cpanel account with home dir size of 30Gb and i would like to take a backup of this account by excluding some folders in the home dir having large size.So i added these folders in the excluding file " /home/user/cpbackup-exclude.conf " as

public_html/test/songs , but after running the /scripts/pkgacct user , i manually checked the files under the tar file and i can see that the folder is not excluded by backup .

Please some one help on this and tell us is there anything i have missed from my end ?

Aren't those exclusions for cpbackup rather than for pkgacct, since a package account would package the entire account? You should instead be using /scripts/cpbackup to see the results.

Yes, there is a way to do it. I'm going to quote a forum thread about it:

The post is at this location:

    Hi,

I read the post and i understood that if i run the pkgacct script using the option --backup , it will checks the /home/user/cpbackup-exclude.conf otherwise it will not . is that correct ? ,Please update this post because your reply is much appreciated..... :)

If you use --backup or --userbackup as a flag when running /scripts/pkgacct, then it will retain any exclusions you are using in cpbackup-exclude.conf in the user's home directory. That is correct.
