Hello all! First post - Please be gentle. (#):)

So one of the e-mail addresses on one of my accounts is complaining that he's not receiving SOME e-mails. At this point it seems that it's an issue receiving e-mails from [email protected] but some of the e-mails come through and some do not. I have access to his e-mail through webmail on the server, and there is a fwder setup that fwds all that e-mail to his gmail addy.

After lurking in this forum, I got a little direction and starting examining the exim logs and it doesn't appear that these phantom e-mails ever touched our server (couldn't find any trace of the e-mail address in the main logs, spam logs, panic, reject etc).

And then we add to this that my user who is complaining about the problem is saying they are getting bounce back messages but he essentially refuses them to fwd them his way because they're professional contacts and I get that.

But at the same time he's looking at me to "fix" this problem and I'm not sure which avenue to approach since it's not a space issue, not a spam issue, not a csf issue... Someone said somewhere else that an issue like this could be a resolver issue but as I've never had this problem before I'm not sure that it is, not sure how to definitively check etc. Thoughts?

Hello :)

There should be rejection messages in /var/log/exim_rejectlog if the emails are rejected before delivery. If not, try to see if they can provide you with an example of an email account that actively fails and see if you can reproduce the behavior.

Thank you.

Thx Michael for the response.

Again, the messages aren't in any of the logs (including rejectlog) because these seem to not be hitting the server. And as I also said, the client isn't really interesting in helping me get to the bottom of things so I might just do Google Mail for business and hopes that work.
