I tried to delete an account but it still shows up under listed domains... when I try to terminate it, I get this message:

"Account Removal Status: failed (Warning!.. system user ___ does not exist! )
Warning!.. system user ___ does not exist! "

All the /home/username files have been deleted, but the domain persists and I cannot create a new account with that name; cpanel says that domain is already in use. It also says to edit the httpd.conf file, but I do not know where that is.

Also I can edit the account but the domain field appears blank.

How do I get rid of this user/domain?

Anyone have any idea as to what I can do? This is kind of urgent...

To properly diagnose the issue it will help most if we may investigate directly; please submit a support request so that we can inspect the affected system and surrounding circumstances that are involved.

When available, please send me a PM referencing this thread and your new ticket ID number so I may follow-up internally. The link in my forums signature may be used to initiate a ticket submission, or it may also be initiated via WHM Support Center.

I am having this same issue, an account shows in the Terminate Account list but when I try to terminate, I get this error:

Account Removal Status: failed (System user testuser does not exist!)
System user testuser does not exist!

What file do I need to modify to remove this user from the list? All files and zones have been removed that are tied to this user. The /var/cpanel/users/testuser file and all other files in /var/cpanel have been removed or modified to remove the references to the user testuser and domain.

Please check if the user is in /etc/passwd, /etc/shadow and /etc/group files:

    Code:
    egrep username /etc/passwd /etc/shadow /etc/group
Here replace username with the username in question.

Next, check if the username is in any of the /var/cpanel/userdata files:

    Code:
    egrep -Ri /var/cpanel/userdata/*
Finally, just in case this is simply appearing due to caching for the domain name in some way, please move the named.conf.cache file:

    Code:
    mv /etc/named.conf.cache /etc/named.conf.cache.bak
    Then restart named:

    Code:
    /etc/init.d/named restart
If the user doesn't exist in any of the above and moving the named.conf.cache file with a restart of named doesn't work, please open a ticket using either WHM > Support Center > Contact cPanel or the link in my signature.

    Thanks!
