    Account Termination: Cobwebs [Help Plz]

    Scenario:

    "Box A": WHM 10.1.0 cPanel 10.2.0-R82 RedHat 9 i686 - WHM X v3.1.0
No Shell, WHM Reseller Account on Static IP

    "Box B" WHM 10.1.0 cPanel 10.2.0-S83 FreeBSD 5.3-STABLE i386 - WHM X v3.1.0
My Dedicated Server. Celeron 2.4, 512 meg ram, 80 Gig HD

I created a Full Backup on Box A, Moved it to Box B. Preformed Restore a Full Backup/cpmove file via WHM on Box B.

Account had many issues, the most troublesome on Box A I am receiving ftp data feed.
Provider is using fqd long usrname login ie ftpuser@reallylongdomain.com. both servers use pureftp.
ftpuser@reallylongdomain.com works fine on Box A even with static IP. Wont work on Box B?!

My findings are that if I use string shorter than 32 chars w/ a static ip acct fqd login works fine.
Now on shared IP accounts it dont matter you must use fqd style login, so the algorithm in the auth script accomodates this.
I need to allow FQD login for Static IP FTP accounts > 32 chars On Box B. Wont Work!?

    So I decide to remove the restored account, "get it outa here" , thus WHM->Account Functions ->Terminate an Account;
account succefully removed!, good now lets check.
Note: In my case I used default naming for account creation.

[root@/]# find . -name "*domain*" -print
    ./etc/vmail/passwd.mydomain.com
    ./etc/vmail/shadow.mydomain.com
    ./etc/vmail/vhost.mydomain.com
    ./etc/vmail/uid.mydomain.com
    ./etc/vmail/gid.mydomain.com
    ./etc/vmail/passwd.subdomain.mydomain.com
    ./etc/vmail/shadow.subdomain.mydomain.com
    ./etc/vmail/vhost.subdomain.mydomain.com
    ./etc/vmail/uid.subdomain.mydomain.com
    ./etc/vmail/gid.subdomain.mydomain.com
    ./etc/vdomainaliases/subdomain.mydomain.com
    ./usr/local/apache/domlogs/ftp.mydomain.com-ftp_log.offset
    ./usr/local/apache/domlogs/ftp.mydomain.com-ftp_log.offsetftpbytes
    ./usr/local/apache/domlogs/ftp.mydomain.com-ftpbytes_log.offset
    ./usr/home/cprestore/backup-6.29.2005_06-37-33_domain.tar.gz
    ./var/cpanel/bandwidth/domain-all.rrd
    ./var/cpanel/bandwidth/domain-http.rrd
    ./var/cpanel/bandwidth/domain-ftp.rrd
    ./var/cpanel/bandwidth/domain-pop3.rrd
    ./var/cpanel/bandwidth/domain-smtp.rrd
    ./var/cpanel/bandwidth/domain
    ./var/cpanel/bandwidth/subdomain.mydomain.com-all.rrd
    ./var/cpanel/bandwidth/mydomain.com
    ./var/cpanel/bandwidth/subdomain.mydomain.com-http.rrd
    ./var/cpanel/bandwidth/subdomain.mydomain.com
    ./home/virtfs/domain
    ./home/virtfs/domain/usr/home/domain

Oh Oh, Seems Account wasn't fully terminated.. My biggest concern here is the
    /home /virtfs/domain dir.
I read here in the forums removing this dir is fatal but haven't located answers.
    so any suggestions or comments?

    Thanks..

I've noticed cpanel keeps files long after the account has been terminated... most of them are log files, and normally you can delete them without trouble. (Never noticed the vmail onces before.... i have no clue what will happen if they get deleted)

The virtfs folder is related to jailshell, deleting virtfs itself might cause problems... again i have terminated an account, found that username was still in this folder and deleted just that folder (taking precautions incase something does go bad).... but had no problems.

    -------------------

if you want to transfer an account onto Box B, you should use transfer tools in WHM and not fullbackup, as you have found out, if the servers have something different (like the difference in FTP), it does kind of mess up.

    Its simple to use:

    1. Go to WHM --> Copy an account from another server with account password [Transfers]
    2. Enter your domain in both the 'Server to copy from' and 'domain name' boxes, aswell as the username and password to the account. As you have defined the domain name you want to copy, it will not copy any other account under your reseller username and password.
    3. Hit the setup button.

As the warning says at the top, this is not recommended if your copying more than 250mb over.

    Hope that helps :)
