Hey all,

I've searched the forum and nothing much has come up to very helpful....
I have an account with one hosting provider running Cpanel (have SSH and FTP access) - This account probably has about 1GB storage on it including all IMAP email accounts. :)

I have attempted to Transfer this account via the Transfer account with password feature in WHM with failure as it was unable to open the httpd.conf file. I do have a backup feature in my Cpanel account which i would like to backup to the new server and can backup the entire home directory to a remote FTP.

I pretty much would like to transfer the entire account intact and merely just point the nameservers to my new ones and have it working again. Addon and Parked domains i'm not that worried about as they will be scrapped in anycase.

So basically the question is: How would i 'unextract' or restore the fully backed up home directory which i download (or FTP upload) to my new server?
Has anyone ever done this and what has worked best for them? :D

When I transferred my accounts to the new server, I did a full backup in cpanel and had the ftp option place them in my ftp account on the new server. I copied the backup files from my ftp directory to the home directory. Then through WHM I used the "Restore a Full Backup/cpmove file" option to restore the accounts. I only had one problem with one mail list (out of 32).

Hope this helps,
Ron

Hi Ron,

Thanks for the help, you've given me confidence to give it a shot :) Not sure whether to use normal FTP or Passive FTP to upload but will fiddle till i come right.
